Enrolment criteria include:
Geographic Location
Geographic Barrier
Itinerancy
High Health Needs
Special Development Needs
Special Circumstances

NB The Ministry of Education has the discretion to refer children and families to Te Kura as part of its programme to increase participation in ECE.

All children may attend a face to face ECE service for up to 8 hours per week and still be eligible for this free service.

The programme provides parents and caregivers with written resource material containing ideas for working with children. This material can be adapted to the age level and experience of the child. A wide range of learning support materials are included with any work sent. Many of these materials are for parents and children to keep and refer back to. There is also a collection of books, puzzles and games and other materials sent on loan for children and their parents to use.

Parents and teachers work together to share information about the child’s learning and development. Through this partnership parents and teachers provide an individual, high quality programme of learning that meets the needs of each child, while at the same time incorporating the child’s individual interests.
